Staples partnered with Jobs For Youth to help prepare Chicago teens to enter the work force.
Staples adopted the Jobs for Youth program as its charity of choice when it opened in Chicago in March, providing a $15,000 grant through the Staples Foundation for Learning.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Bobby Wade distributed "Business Beginnings" kits containing a daily planner, padfolio, pens and a notepad to recent graduates of the program. Students in the job-readiness workshop and GED classes had the opportunity to listen to Wade talk about his experiences in football, including "dressing for success" and being on time, two important job-readiness skills that are stressed in all Jobs For Youth classes.
Staples is No. 41 on The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list.
